Dramatic artworks by the conceptual documentary photographer Richard Mosse, chart the migration crisis unfolding across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. Journeys of illegal migrants and refugees are captured on a thermal camera, designed originally to facilitate the tracking of enemy movements in warfare. The powerful telephoto military camera can detect the human body from a distance of more than 30km and accurately identify an individual from 6.3km, day or night. Which gives the photographic imagery a cold and sinister voyeurism. The video installation brings together Mosse's collaboration with composer Ben Frost and cinematographer Trevor Tweeten as it traces the movement of humans in life-threatening moments of transit. Projected across three 8 metre-wide screens the video installation is an immersive experience that brings the migrant crisis to the forefront in all its rawness, accompanied by a soundtrack that reaches the depths of your core.
